Franklin Falls Dam

The Franklin Falls Dam is part of the Franklin Falls Recreation Area that includes over 2500 wooded acres of trails, which itself it part of Franklin Falls Park that includes almost 4000 acres of wooded river valley. As the name implies, it is located in Franklin, NH and is a little known gem, even to locals. It is stationed and maintained by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and is free to visit.

Most people park at the parking lot near the entrance and walk, jog, or bike down the access road for exercise, but you can also drive down and park at the dam itself, or even drive across it. There’s a few parking spaces on the opposite side near the gazebo too. It’s dog friendly and there is a play area for kids. It even has an 18 hole disc golf course.

Directly connected to the dam to the north is the mountain bike trail system that is maintained by the New England Mountain Bike Association. Just to the south, on the peninsula, is the Piney Point Trail. If you stand on the dam and look downriver, you can see (barely) the Pemi Shore Cottages.
